Fundamentals of Responsible Alcohol Service
Risk Management is crucial to the success of every restaurant and food service operation. Serving alcohol responsibly is critical to preventing difficult circumstances in establishments, and ultimately, in the community. We convened foodservice, regulatory, legal, academic, medical, and insurance experts to develop a new training program that focuses on what front-of-house employees need to know to serve alcohol responsibly. ServSafe Handbook is equipped with quizzes and tests to help you study. Once you have finished reading and completing the activities throughout each chapter, test yourself!
Throughout each section:
- Concepts - These topics are important for a thorough understanding of responsible alcohol service. They are identified before the introduction to each chapter
- Graphics - Placed throughout each chapter to visually reinforce the key concepts in the text, they include charts, photographs, illustrations, and tables
- Something To Think About - Based on real world examples, these stories reveal the potential impact of careless alcohol service
- How This Relates to Me - Throughout each chapter, there are oppotunities for you to write in information specific to your location or operation, such as alcohol related laws or company policies. If you are training in a group, your instructor may provide this information; if you are training with your manager or studying independently, you should research these topics to ensure you have the most appropriate information for your jurisdiction.
- Activities - Apply what you have learned by completing the various activities throughout each chapter.
